The United Methodist Men organized a trip to visit Wellsboro in December 2009 to join in the festivities of “A DICKENS OF A CHRISTMAS.” Downtown Wellsboro was transformed into a Victorian Scene: many vendors of crafts, various dramas, carolers, merchants in costumes; horsedrawn Conestoga wagon rides around the town square, an organ and piano concert, a brass choir playing festive carols, lots of GREAT food, and a bit of snow whisked us back to an earlier time in American history. A great time was had by all!
On January 23, the UM Men organized what we hope will be the first of many church dinners. The Dinner, organized by chef Ed Keller, included ham, potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll and dessert and was held in Stiner Hall. As the public dinners grow in size we hope to use the Becht Center / God’s Workshop for such future events. Thanks to all who supported this our first effort. All the proceeds were put on the principal of our church debt of the Becht Building.
The next monthly breakfast meeting will be in Stiner Hall on Saturday, February 13th at 9 AM. The rest of the morning will be devoted to a WORK DAY assisting the trustees in various jobs that need to be completed. Sign up in the narthex. ALL MEN are welcome.
