“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:2 It was the Monday after Easter and I had just finished a joyous and wonderful Holy Week experience, my first as your Pastor here at Faxon-Kenmar. We had just arrived back from the kennel in Bloomsburg where we picked up our new puppy—a cockapoo named Mocha. Then it happened. My wife's computer crashed unexpectedly. And, unfortunately, this wasn't just a minor crash. This was a total system melt-down! Windows wouldn't even start! Thanks to Scott Schramm's help, we were able to recover some important documents and pictures off of her old hard drive. Now we're in the process of rebuilding and restoring her computer. Spring is a good time to renovate, rebuild and restore not only our homes, or as in our case, our computer, but it's a great time to put our faith into action. God infuses us with the power of the Holy Spirit to do a great work in and through us! He uses us, even though we may “crash” from time to time, He continues to restore us, constantly shaping, molding and making us more and more like Him. Perhaps it's time for a little spring soul-cleaning? That's the power that can renovate our minds and hearts today and that will one day completely renovate and restore our sin-torn bodies into glorified bodies that will live forever in heaven. The resurrection is the final hope of every Christ-follower. It is the “final reveal” of God's design and renovation: the perfection of our mind, body, and spirit. On the other side of the grave, when God says, “Okay, open your eyes and see your new space,” you will open your eyes in a resur-rected, recreated body, a completely new space that you will inhabit for eternity. It will be the perfect space, designed by the perfect Designer (God the Father), rebuilt by the perfect Carpenter (Jesus Christ) and purchased at the ultimate cost (Christ's precious blood). But you've got to make the choice: Are you going to keep trying on your own to rebuild the fragments of rubble left by sin or are you going to let the Carpenter renovate your life into the perfect space?
