Summer at the Thrift Store is going great! We continue to find new customers weekly that are surprised and pleased to have found us. Sometimes it’s by chance; sometimes by word of mouth.Needs for summer months are bath towels (always), and baby and children’s clothing. Some sizes we just cannot keep in stock, so if you are cleaning out your children’s outgrown clothing, please think of us! Also, the Thrift Store is currently helping Scott Lowery of the Lycoming County United Way collect small stuffed animals and also some children’s clothing to send to his son who is located with the military in Afghanistan. The soldiers hand these toys out to the children there. This is an ongoing mission which helps to foster good relations with the Afghan people, especially the youth. Many, perhaps most, of these children have never had a toy. It is helpful if the toys are “beanie baby” size, since these are so much easier to ship. And please, only ones that are new or like-new. We are also sending some clothing, but with the exception of children’s clothing, we have enough of the adult clothing to choose from. If you would like more information about this project, please contact Jean Williams. Thanks to all those sending in the Boxtops for Education proofs! People are finally getting to recognize the symbols on the many products they use, as these have been coming in at a faster rate! A picture of one is included with this article for those who still are unsure of what they are. Same with the Campbell’s proofs. And again, thanks to the many people who help us out on a weekly basis! The store is doing great, but without them, we could not do any of this! submitted by Jane Pierce
