Friday evening September 19th at 5:30 PM through Saturday, September 20th at 6:30 PM was the time of the first UM Men’s Retreat! We gathered at the Missionary Cottage at Central Oak Heights, a former campsite of the United Methodist Church. Under Pastor Howard Woodruff’s leadership, nine men shared a wonderful, inspiring, time of Christian fellowship. Through videos and discussion, the topic for the retreat was Building Leadership in the Church. Everyone enjoyed the great weather to be in the woods, the companionship of sharing time with other men of faith, the Friday night bonfire (built and lit by a former Boy Scout – PASTOR BILL), a hike in the woods to see the cabins and layout of COH, the delicious food and discussions around the table, and the opportunity to begin what we all hope will be an annual tradition of the Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Men. In October, we will meet for our regular meeting on the second Saturday of the month for Breakfast. All Men are invited to join us at 8 AM on October 11th for a home cooked breakfast. The cost will be divided upon those who attend. Sign up in the narthex for this event.
Future plans include a November trip to see Jersey Shore Steel in action and also in November, working at Sojourner Truth, a substation for the kits being made for Mission Central. In December, we are planning a trip to the Children’s Home in Mechanicsburg to shower them with gifts and love from Faxon-Kenmar UMC. Dates for the November and December events will be announced in the bulletin. Come share in the United Methodist Men - times of FUN, FAITH and FELLOWSHIP!
